I’m Into Bondage

…And rightfully so. Because it’s difficult not to love bondage after I’ve feasted my eyes on the harnesses, cuffs and other delightful leather restraints made by London-based brand Fleet Ilya.

Yes, call me strange. But I recognize sheer creativity and quality when I see it.

Fleet Ilya is headed by husband and wife design team, Ilya Fleet and Resha Sharma. Fleet is trained in saddle-making. Sharma is a trained graphic designer. The duo combines their passion for fashion, art, design and leather to create accessories that are playfully conceptual and exceptionally well-crafted.

Furry cuffs and vinyl, no more! Fleet Ilya is where it’s at. Uh-huhhhhh.

Kanye West: The Clothing Line

Word on the street is that Yeezy is starting a clothing line. It has been said that Central Saint Martins graduate students have been working on the collection in London. Apparently, the collection has yet to come to completion; it will not be ready for Paris Fashion Week because of Kanye’s indecisive nature.

I’m usually leery about any rapper/actor/celeb-turned-designer — my first instinct is to accuse them of slapping their name on a product just to turn a profit. Isn’t that always the case? Whether or not the chatter is true, it may be different with Kanye. He is an ingenious lyricist/producer whose swagger alone deems him part of the fashion game, whether he chooses to be or not. A clothing line materialized by Kanye West seems like a natural career progression.

I’m hoping that his designs are as clever and creative as his music.
