Trial & Error & Error & Progress

Nothing that I design will ever be perfect. Nothing. It’s the self-critical designer in me that will forever make me feel that way. In fact, my designs are even further from perfect now. It is much more difficult for me to make things solo-dolo than when I lived in NYC and had experienced sewing techs at my disposal in the lab. I learn as I go, and I’m always making mistakes.

That being said, I’ve sparked a fire up my a$$. (Yes, I just said that). Though learning and erring and progression take time, this collection needs to be unveiled and sold verrry soon! It’s crunch time, folks! I need to churn things out like a well-oiled machine! Do I have your support?

Peep below: The stages of making a prototype for a leather passport case: 1) Make the pattern 2) Skive the leather 3) Trapunto the darn thing 4) Put it together. The trapunto technique alone took over forty hours (+ hair-pulling + late nights) to complete, and it’s still not at the calibre I expect. The last photo is definitely not the finished piece. It’s just a preliminary sample. I will show you the real-deal final product in due time.

How’s that for a Monday night update? Now…time to sew myself to sleep.
