Word on the street is that Yeezy is starting a clothing line. It has been said that Central Saint Martins graduate students have been working on the collection in London. Apparently, the collection has yet to come to completion; it will not be ready for Paris Fashion Week because of Kanye’s indecisive nature.
I’m usually leery about any rapper/actor/celeb-turned-designer — my first instinct is to accuse them of slapping their name on a product just to turn a profit. Isn’t that always the case? Whether or not the chatter is true, it may be different with Kanye. He is an ingenious lyricist/producer whose swagger alone deems him part of the fashion game, whether he chooses to be or not. A clothing line materialized by Kanye West seems like a natural career progression.
I’m hoping that his designs are as clever and creative as his music.
